  1. Hi. I really like your website. I’m a big fan of whiskey in general. So much so we’ve started sourcing and aging coffee beans in whiskey barrels. Any chance you would be up for reviewing our coffee for your blog readers? I can send out some free samples to you. Awesome site by the way.

    Let me know.
    Thanks.
    John

  2. You have to go to J’s Liquors in Owensboro, KY. They have every PVW year plus many other very rare bourbons at the cheapest prices I’ve ever found. Awesome place.

  3. Was just in Reunion, Florida (just outside Orlando). Found a bottle of Pappy 23 at the local liquor store beside the Publix Grocery Store – Liquor at Ovation – 7850 Lake Wilson Road.
He wanted $4600.00 for the bottle, but said he was negotiable!

Was able to find the last pour of 12 year Old Rip Van Winkle at Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge in Disney.

Was very very good! I will continue to search for a 20 year or 23 year!

  4. Chris, i have another bar for your list, Wang’s Table in Haverhill, MA. He has 15 year and 23 year for sale at the bar. People come from all over to get some Pappy.

  5. Another place to add to the list that serves pappy – Modis in Breckenridge, CO. They have Old Rip, 15 and I think 20 (if not 1 more). They even serve a Pappy 15 Old Fashion on the menu, but I’d rather have it without bitters, sugar and orange…

  6. I was lucky to have two bottles of 23 yr old Pappy in velvet bags given to me two years in a row six and seven years ago. I live on Long Island, New York. I am curious if there is a market for the empties?

    1. There are some willing to pay for them $50 or so, but it is controversial. Some folks supposedly take them and refill with other Bourbon, seal and try to sell. So I keep mine.

  7. Anyone in San Antonio, TX as of 1/13/2017 PVW 10,12,15, 20, and 23 are available at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort (23808 Resort Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78261) in the ‘Crooked Branch’ bar located downstairs from the lobby. Bring $$$ as 10 yr goes for $42 a shot and the 23yr is going to run about $250!!! The 10yr is seeing some love but the 23 is still sealed.

  8. It’s been some months since I was there, but Cafe Lou Lou listed several Pappy editions on their bourbon list.

  9. Butcher Bar in Philadelphia, PA carries a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20 year reserve that they will begin offering on their 1 year anniversary, Tuesday, Sept. 12th.

  10. Hey Chris,

Huge fan of your website, and passion for the pursuit of that delicious”Amber Gold”. Regardless if it’s Pappy, BTAC or even Elmer now. I would love to own a bottle one of these days.

I have a few spots here in California that you may consider to add to your fantastic list..

    1) Townhouse (speakeasy) here in Venice California. They only had Pappy 15 @ $30 a shot

    2) New York Grill in Ontario they had Old Rip 12 & Pappy 15. My apologies don’t remember the price per shot..

    Thank you for your time.

    Jason

  11. Hello Chris,
I am in search for a bottle of Pappy for my husband who is turning 50 in December. He has talked about wanting some for the last 2 years. I would love to get him this for his half a century birthday.
    Sincerely

    Dawn

  13. William Weibley

I just picked up a bottle of 2005 Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 years old that is missing the front label. The back label is present and based on all my research and discussing with the seller, everything checks out to be authentic. He is not sure what he did with the label that came off, isn’t even sure how it came off, but no longer has it. Does a sealed bottle with the front label missing still have value? At this point I don’t have plans to sell it, especially for the price I paid. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks…

    1. It will definitely be devalued by most collectors due to that, but if someone wants it to drink they would likely pay more than retail. Never run across that before so it is hard to know exactly how much over retail. I’ve seen faded and torn labels (which might be dropped $100 or so from secondary market value), but not ones that are missing.

Thanks for the response..the label on the back is present so was able to use it as part of the validation. The original owner stated he doesn’t recall how it came off, but assured it’s authentic as he purchased it himself. Think I will plan on just enjoying it, only the second bottle I’ve been able to acquire.
